PlayMada Games is a small but passionate team of educators, designers, & developers creating digital STEM learning resources for middle & high school students. Our focus is on building a deep understanding of STEM concepts by combining rigorous pedagogy & thoughtful interactivity. Our products turn the abstract into concrete learning.  Our first two products are CanFigureIt Geometry (www.canfigureit.com) and Collisions (www.playmadagames.com).  CanFigureIt Geometry is a highly interactive, easy-to-use digital learning tool that helps students work through proofs while exercising their deductive reasoning skills. Collisions is a digital learning resource, grounded in the rules of chemistry, that allows students to explore core concepts by visualizing and manipulating the building blocks of matter.

About the Role:

PlayMada Games is looking for a creative, strategic & innovative self-starter to work closely with our product team to conceptualize & execute a wide range of marketing & sales initiatives. Through in-depth product knowledge, the Marketing & Sales Lead will build an effective strategy to communicate our products value to targeted, prospective customers & translate this to compelling assets that work for the relevant channels & campaigns in order to achieve our company sales goals.

The Lead will have a strong grasp on competitive & market analysis with an understanding of how to effectively leverage those findings. He or she will be responsible for generating measurable awareness of our products & subsequently building MQLs that can be integrated into a sales pipeline. The Lead will build meaningful & key community relationships in order to achieve sales & retention goals.

Our ideal candidate will have proven success in driving new business & maintaining strong client management & retention. He or she will possess outstanding communication & creative skills, with proven success integrating both effective marketing & sales, into the larger business objectives.

The Marketing & Sales Lead will report to the Founder/CEO & work closely with the Executive Creative Director & Outreach Manager.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Marketing Responsibilities

Product Marketing – 25%

  • Own marketing communications by developing & executing a strategic marketing plan that will result in increased product visibility & profitable growth
  • Support & guide the creation of digital product demonstrations  
  • Create branded collateral, in partnership with Product Team, that includes in-depth product knowledge & classroom benefits
  • Guide website optimization & maintenance
  • Lead digital campaign strategy, execution & analytics  
  • Utilize & understand data to continuously improve efficiency of marketing tactics; establish & monitor KPIs
  • Establish & manage key partnerships that will drive user growth & brand recognition
  • Maintain our presence on external sites & ensure any info is accurate & up to date
  • Create compelling, clear, & concise messaging to explain the product’s value propositions
  • Brainstorm, execute, & optimize targeted, creative, content marketing campaigns across multiple channels including but not limited to social media, email, SEO, landing page generation, live events, etc.

Content & Thought Leadership – 10%

  • Improve social media presence with compelling & consistent content
  • Pursue placements in key media/publication spaces
  • Create content around STEM (science, technology, engineering, & mathematics) that establishes the company as an expert

Events – 15%

  • Build a comprehensive & curated calendar covering national events/industry happenings with planned, strategic presence before during & after key events
  • Assist with coordination of event logistics
  • Work with our pedagogy & outreach leads to generate & bolster attendance for webinars, teacher workshops, & other promotional events

Sales Responsibilities

Drive sales, growth & retention via relationships – 40%

  • Maintain an ongoing understanding of current climates within school districts, including challenges education leaders face integrating technology in classrooms
  • Leveraging mutual connections to start conversations with decision makers
  • Cold outreach on LinkedIn, phone, email – as appropriate
  • Create & deliver sales presentations, both in-person & virtually, that educate attendees on products & spark meaningful dialogue & inquiries
  • Identifying & attend events; joining organizations; other relevant grassroots efforts
  • Leveraging existing teacher/champion/ambassador programs to create further traction & new engagement

Develop, execute, & manage the lead generation & conversion funnel – 10%

  • Maintain timely & accurate reporting of the pipeline, account plans, & territory management activities to drive new & retain existing business
  • Diligent but respectful & relevant follow-up with prospects & leads
  • Achieve quarterly & annual revenue targets

Requirements:

  • 4-6 years experience in marketing & sales/business development with track record of success
  • Bachelor’s Degree in creative or communication-related field
  • Sales experience in the Education / Ed Tech industry a plus
  • Experience working within a startup work environment with small teams & limited budgets preferred
  • Creative & innovative story teller, both at a brand & product level
  • Strategic problem-solving skills & data-driven decision-making abilities
  • Experience identifying actionable insights within past marketing campaigns
  • Exceptional analytical, verbal, & written communication skills across varied channels
  • Ability to accurately express complex concepts with simplicity & clarity
  • Impeccable aesthetic, & attention to detail & design
  • Self-motivated, self guided, team player
  • Ability to take risks & think outside the box
  • Ability to organize, prioritize & multitask effectively
  • Experience managing paid media campaigns
  • Highly engaged across social media channels
  • Knowledge of marketing & sales tools (Mailchimp, Hootsuite, WordPress, Netsuite, etc.)
  • Ability to strategically negotiate with mutually beneficial results
  • Experience organizing & maximizing event/tradeshow ROI
  • Willingness to travel, regionally (approximately 30%)
  • Adobe Creative Suite CS5+ / graphic design experience a plus
  • Passion for education & love of STEM  a plus
